White Mountains Region

Welcome to White Mountains Region bed and breakfasts! Named for the beautiful and rugged White Mountain National Forest, New Hampshire's White Mountains Region has a long history of tourism that dates back to the 1800's, and is an outdoor adventurer's destination.

The White Mountain Region is a four-season recreation destination. With 1500 miles of non-motorized and snowmobiling trails, including one hundred sixty miles of the Appalachian Trail, visitors truly have an opportunity to get into the woods. From Mt. Washington, the highest peak in the Northeast, to alpine areas unique in the East, the White Mountains are where adventurers continue to challenge themselves in the backcountry. Recreational opportunities are numerous, including summer activities of camping, hiking, climbing, horseback riding, fishing, wildlife watching, and picnicking.

Pleasure-driving is a popular activity on the White Mountain National Forest, especially during the fall foliage season. The Kancamagus Scenic Byway is considered one of the top fall-foliage trips in the world and is one of the most scenic routes through the White Mountains

During the winter months, hunting, downhill and cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, snowmobiling, winter mountaineering, ice climbing and other winter sports are popular. There are many winter ski resorts within reasonable driving distance, and several world-class Nordic centers serve cross-country skiers. Extensive backcountry hiking and skiing can be found above tree-line across the Presidential Range, which includes the famous steep bowl of the Tuckerman Ravine.

Whatever your outdoor activity is, the White Mountains is the place to be!
